The Urban Framework: Almendrades

The task at hand was to take the creative leap into a new vision of what this area could be. The intent is to define a new identity for Little Havana, Florida. In effect ‘rebranding’ the city in a way that looks to the future. Working in teams, develop a general structural framework for future development that will channel and organize the forces for growth. Also creating specific design guidelines for the key areas of public space and workforce housing developments.

The intent was to create a city that gave its residents a view of the river and plenty of green spaces to provide its residents with a sense of community, also to densify the square footage by not having single family homes, but instead apartment buildings and occupy the space along the river with a park and an amphitheater.
