The Groove
Building located on 3191 Broadway, New York, NY USA.
The Groove is the dance theater of Harlem as well as a community space that is a music school for the local youth to cultivate the creative minds in Harlem in-turn paying homage to the musical and preforming history of the city.
Inspired by art as movement, whether dance, painting, music, or color. The Groove creates a feeling of movement, fluidity and harmony with the implementation of color, and fluid circulation to evoke feelings while moving through the space.
Behind the Façade System
The façade is composed of semi-transparent glass louvers of gradients of colors that would create an array of ambient light in the corridors, practice and preforming spaces within the program. Attached to a storefront wall with 10” metal connections every three feet.
